Ridge Generating Station is an exciting component of Florida's integrated approach to solid waste management. Customers of the disposal facility enjoy the following benefits of conservation of local landfill space, an economically attractive alternative to current disposal methods for waste wood, and a viable end use of large quantities of waste wood and scrap tires.

The 31.4-acre parcel accommodates the power generating facility, waste processing and storage areas and other associated facilities. The power plant consists of one boiler that has a steam generating capacity of 345,000 lbs/hr and one steam turbine generator.

The waste wood and tires come from a variety of sources in the area. The plant has an electrical generating capacity of 50 megawatts and processes up to 300,000 tons per year of waste wood and approximately 30,000 tons of scrap tires into enough clean, electric energy to supply power to almost 29,000 Florida households.
