Wheelabrator McKay Bay Inc.
Located in Tampa, Florida, the Wheelabrator McKay Bay waste-to-energy facility
provides dependable, environmentally safe disposal of municipal solid waste for
the City of Tampa, Florida while generating clean electricity for sale to the
local utility. The McKay Bay facility processes up to 1000 tons per day of municipal
solid waste. At full capacity, the plant, which sells electricity to Tampa Electric Company,
can generate more than 22,000 kilowatt-hours of electrical energy per hour. This is the equivalent
of supplying all of the electrical needs of more than 12,000 Florida homes.
