Wheelabrator Hudson Falls
Located in Washington County, New York the Wheelabrator Hudson Falls waste-to-energy
facility provides dependable, environmentally safe disposal of municipal solid
waste for Washington and Warren counties while generating clean electricity for
sale to the local utility. The Hudson Falls facility, owned by the Industrial
Development Agency of Washington and Warren counties and operated by Wheelabrator,
process up to 500 tons per day of municipal solid waste. At full capacity, the
plant can generate more than 14,500 kilowatts of electrical energy for sale to
Niagara Mohawk Company. This is enough energy to supply the electrical needs
of more than 20,000 New York homes.
