Wheelabrator Claremont Co., L.P.

Located in Claremont, New Hampshire, the Wheelabrator Claremont waste-to-energy facility provides dependable, environmentally safe disposal of municipal solid waste for communities in New Hampshire and Vermont. The Claremont facility processes up to 200 tons per day of municipal solid waste from twenty-nine communities in Sullivan and Merrimac counties in New Hampshire and Windsor and Windham counties in Vermont. The project was realized through an innovative interstate compact that allowed both New Hampshire and Vermont to jointly resolve long-term solid waste disposal needs. At full capacity, the plant, which sells electricity to Public Service Company of New Hampshire, can generate 4500 kilowatt-hours of electrical energy per hour. This is the equivalent of supplying all of the electrical needs of more than 5,500 New Hampshire homes.
