Wheelabrator Bridgeport, L.P.
Located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the Wheelabrator Bridgeport waste-to-energy
facility provides dependable, environmentally safe disposal of municipal solid
waste for more than a dozen Connecticut towns and cities. The Bridgeport facility
processes up to 2250 tons per day of municipal solid waste from southwest Connecticut.
At full capacity, the plant, which sells electricity to the United Illuminating
Company, can generate more than 67,000 kilowatt-hours of electrical energy per hour. This
is
the
equivalent
of
supplying all of the electrical needs of 83,000 Connecticut homes.
