Wheelabrator Lassen Inc.

Wheelabrator Lassen Inc. is a gas-fired cogeneration facility located in Anderson, California at Simpson Paper Company's Shasta Mill.

The facility, which sells all of its electric output to a local utility, has an electrical generating capacity of 43 megawatts, enough energy to supply the needs of 70,000 California homes. Process steam from the plant used to produce distilled water that is sold to a water company.

The Lassen cogeneration power plant includes one gas turbine with a heat recovery boiler. This combination provides maximum system efficiency while minimizing fuel consumption and environmental impacts.

The Shasta Mill is an integrated pulp and paper mill producing pulp for internal use, market pulp, coated paper and bag paper. The pulp mill produces an average of 230 air dry metric tons of bleached kraft pulp, and 400 short tons of paper per day.
